Our synagogue is seeking a caring and enthusiastic Director to lead our vibrant preschool program. A vital part of Beth Jacob Congregation of Oakland, California, we serve almost 50 children ages 4 months to pre-k. The program educates the whole child, emphasizing social-emotional development, fostering an appreciation of learning, and embracing and enjoying Judaism. The preschool is an integral part of our Modern Orthodox community, and we are in search of a director who understands and will nurture this relationship.

The ideal candidate will build on the success of our program, through their knowledge of child development, Jewish education and practice, ability to create and implement curriculum, build relationships, lead and mentor staff, and demonstrate strong communication and organization skills.

Responsibilities

The Director is responsible for all the daily operations of the school including:

*Delivery of the instructional program and overall operation of the school
*Student enrollment, parent and community relations
*Staff supervision and development, and facility management
*Marketing plan implementation, profit and loss management
Leadership

The Director is a leader who:

*Builds strong relationships with preschool families and helps them recognize their important role in our synagogue community
*Recruits and supports thee teaching staff through dialogue, evaluation and reflection, and provides ongoing and necessary professional development opportunities
*Promotes an environment that aligns with our mission and values, to infuse Judaism in the classrooms and bridges the preschool to the larger shul community
*Collaborates with Beth Jacob's Congregation's Executive Director, Rabbi, and lay leadership as appropriate
*Ensures compliance with all licensing and state regulations
*Develops and maintains an annual preschool budget
*Participates in ECE Heads Professional Network and JCF early childhood initiatives, which may require travel

*Minimum of bachelor's degree in early childhood education and related field, masters or graduate degree in progress preferred
*5+ years in early childhood setting including management or leadership experience
*Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including written, oral and computer skills
*Meets minimum education and experience requirements to comply with applicable state regulations and accrediting boards, including holding any state-required director certifications
